Whew! If you can’t find
something to do in that schedule then you can always enjoy the trails on foot,
bike or horse or just enjoy a beautiful day with friends. Don’t forget
your red, white & blue because in Crested Butte every holiday is another
excuse to dress up. The rest of the summer is action packed too so check
out the Calendar of Events on my website to find out when you want to be
here. The ski area has worked hard to make the downhill mountain biking on
the mountain cover more terrain & more challenging so if that is something
you are interested in, you should certainly come see all their hard
work.
There are a few interesting things
in the works for next winter. Although the contracts have not been signed,
we are close to have daily flights from Houston on Continental and twice a week
flights from San Francisco on Virgin America during the peak of the ski
season. This is great news and will help to make it easier to get here for
a lot of people. CBMR is renovating the Treasury Building at the base area to expand the
space there for eating & getting ready to go skiing. This will
certainly make it easier and nicer to come skiing for the day if you are not
staying right at the base area.
The real estate market continues
to hum along here. 2010 is much better then 2009 so far, but May &
June have been a bit slower then the beginning of the year. July &
August are historically our busiest months so I’ll keep you updated on how
things are going. We have seen some incredible price reductions from CBMR
on the properties they still own in The Lodge at Mountaineer Square
and vacant land in Prospect. They are offering properties for 50% less
then the original prices in some cases. This is a great opportunity to get
into these one-of-a-kind locations at bargain prices so let me know if you would
like pricing information.
While we continue to see our share
of foreclosures & short sales, it doesn’t seem to be at a higher level then
similar communities. This has caused prices to remain low or to drop in
some cases. We have seen several cases where bank owned properties have
made large price reductions and created multiple bids to come in quickly.
So, if you have a specific type of property you would like me to keep an eye on
for you, let me know and I’ll do my best to let you know the minute something of
interest comes up.
